5 Sausages (Johnsonville Brats or any other german sausage you like)
5 Hoagie rolls
1 onion, sliced thin
1 bell pepper, sliced thin (red, green or yellow)
1 Tablespoon butter
1 bottle beer (Ale or dark German beer)
Preheat oven to 300°
Wrap Hoagie rolls in foil and place in oven to warm.
In a large straight sided skillet melt butter over medium high heat. Add sausages and brown on all sides.
Add onions, peppers and beer. Cover with a lid and let simmer for 20 minutes. Sausages should be done, but if you want to make sure then test that the temperature is 160° with an instant read thermometer.
Remove rolls and slice 3/4 through. Place one sausage in each roll and top with onions and peppers.
Serve with brown spicy mustard.
* I typically serve sauerkraut with this (you can buy this pre-made in the deli section).
