French Onion Soup transformed into a crowd pleasing dip!
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add onions, salt and sugar. Cook stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes. The onions should begin to have color.
Add beef broth and stir.
Lower heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring often, for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the onions turn a deep, rich brown.
Turn off heat and allow to onions to cool slightly.
In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, cream cheese, soy sauce, parsley and onions.
Allow to sit in fridge for about 30 minutes for flavors to meld. But, you can serve immediately if you are in a hurry.
*If you don't want to open an entire can/box of beef broth just use water instead.
